Barack Obama winning has inspired me so much because it has made me proud of my entire generation. Even though I could not vote, I expected generation Y to be all talk, and to undoubtedly fall short when it came down to crunch time. But I think we have proven the entire world wrong and have shown how active America's youth really is when it comes to things that matter. As I was sitting reloading CNN.com over and over again, I heard my suitemates screaming and I just knew. Seeing everyone on campus shouting, dancing and laughing was so overwhelming, I just had to stop to take it all in, because this is history in the making, and I am part of it. I will be telling this to my children and grandchildren, and I will surely remember this night and people's reactions and just how happy I feel. This might sound overplayed, but watching Obama speak brought tears to my eyes because also, this is the first step in equality. Actually, it is a leap in the right direction and I am just so ecstatic that most of the youth shares my opinion, that such trivial things like race can be overlooked. We are all just the same and I am looking forward to the next 8 years.
Oh and I'm officially 19!
